Once an employer terminates you and tells you what your severance package is, can they terminate that package if say, you go to work for another competitor? The severance package is being paid monthly.

That depends entirely on the severance package and any documentation you signed upon acceptance.

Agreed. If the offer of severance provides for salary continuation for a specified period of time, it's not uncommon for the agreement to state that it will cease when the individual begins new employment.

I live in NJ. I was terminated from my job on 11/29/04. My boss said he heard I was bad-mouthing the company. This is slandereous hearsay. I need to take prescription medication everyday, and without my medical insurance, there is no way I can afford it. Please help!!!!
