What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TX**************...Is their a legal age limit that 2 people can date? She's 15 and her boyfriend is 18. Thanks.

I don't know why we have a search function; no one ever uses it.

Okay. Once more. For the 3,725,462th time, NO. There is NO law in ANY state that says at what ages you may DATE. That decision is left entirely in the hands of the parents. If the parents agree to let their 15 year old go to school events or movies or what-have-you with an 18 year old, the law will not stand in the way.

There ARE laws that say who may have sexual contact (which is NOT limited to intercourse.) The age of consent in Texas is 17. Tell the 18 year old to keep his hands to himself and his pants zipped, and we'll all be happy.

I swear I'm going to start charging for this question, it comes up so often.

I'm going to reiterate that the decision is left in the hands of the PARENTS.

The age of consent for sexual activity in TX is 17. No sexual activity? No illegality. Even if there WAS sexual activity, while charges may be filed against Romeo, there is a 3 year age difference affirmative defense.

This is Mom and Dad's problem (or not if they don't have a problem with the relationship), OP.

ETA: I guess I just reiterated all the information cbg posted.

If Juliet just turned 15 and Romeo turns 19 next month, even the 3 year defense would be out the window.

Yes it would be out the window. You are correct. However, DATING is still an issue to be dealt with between Mom and Dad.

OP is the new wife of Dad. She has another thread going about this same 15 year old (who is NOT her child). That was really the point of my response. I just got carried away in my posting. My fingers were just rattling.
