What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I atarted my video production company in California last year and incorporated with the idea of deducting my expenses while protecting my personal assets from liabilities. My business has not taken off, however, and it may be a while before I actually earn some money. California requires a payment of $800 per year to maintain an LLC, which is a steep price for a company not earning anything.
I was wondering what the drawbacks are of dissolving the LLC and simply doing business as an independent contractor. I'd like to keep the extra $800 a year until my business takes off. Is it difficult to restart an LLC with the same business name once you have dissolved it?
Thanks.
