What is the name of your state? Ca.

Please advise, as I try to keep this simple.

Husband has been owner/operator of a trucking business for 10 months.

With business doing well, we saved up about $15,000 for business savings.
Since business was going so good we used the money for a down payment to buy a house. Our plan was to re-save immediately for business.

Plans came to a screeching halt a month ago when husband had an accident in the truck. The truck has been in the shop for a month with still another month to go before its up and running.

In the meantime, the bills are accumulating big time and I don't see anyway out this side of husband having a nervous breakdown.

2000 Volvo: Balance $2,500 (now one month late).

2000 Ford pick up: Been making regular monthly pymts for 3 years, (now one month late) with 3 years to go.

Business truck: Have made regular monthly payments for 10 months (now late by one month) with a balance of about $25,000.

My daughter is disabled. State pays me as caregiver, its enough money to take care of house payment.

It seems to me the priotity here is making the house payment first and foremost.

Is Bankruptcy our answer?

Please advise...I believe I have alot to learn for all of you.

Sincerely,
Ojela

First my thoughts and prayers to you and your family. You are in a tough situation.

I think Bankruptcy might help you.But what I would do is meet with a Bankruptcy Lawyer and discuss your options. The 1st visit is generally free so there is nothing to lose.

Lawyers know what the thresholds are for Bankruptcy...get an appt with one as soon as possible.

P.S. Do not fall for the credit counseling trap.
