GeorgiaWhat is the name of your state? My sister's husband divorced her about 8 years ago because of her drinking. About 7 years ago she moved in with my mother. About 5 years ago she almost died from alchol overdose. The doctors sent her to an institution. She called my mother from there on the first night and my mother went and got her out. She has been living with my mother ever since and she was doing ok for awhile but she has reverted back to her drinking. She calls me and my other sisters and leaves messages, obviously in a drunken state telling us my mother wants us to leave her alone. My mother has gotten to the point where she can not remember something we discussed 5 minutes earlier, I have taken her to doctors and one of them has her trying medication to deter memory loss. I checked on her the other day and found she had not taken the medication but every other day instead of every day because she forgot. My sister who lives with her is of no help, will not help her to remember to take medication. In fact she tells my mother the rest of us want to put her in "the funny farm". My mother made me executer of her estate about 6 years ago, can I get power of attorney over her without her consent so I can get her to move in with me or my other sister and sell her condo to keep the proceeds for assisted living for my mother and force my sister who is now disabled because of her drinking and drawing social security and has medicare or medicaid to goto a rehab and get the help she is long overdue. Our whole family fear that my sister is intimaditing my mother and keeping there in fear.
