What is the name of your state? Ohio

I left an employer about 3 weeks ago that I had worked for, for 5 years. I was the #2 guy in the company and was often the only employee. My "CEO" has told more than one employee in our office (including employees that reported directly to me) on more than one occassion that I used my company provided cell phone to call 900 sex lines. This is an absolute LIE. I have denied this claim to him and asked him for the phone bills for proof, at least 4 times. He never provided the evidence. My questions are;
1. Can I sue him for slander?
2. How would I determine how much to sue him for?

Also, I had a garnishment on my wages for an old car loan. My problem, I know. I am not making excuses. However, he has told other employees of my company, that had no reason to know, aboutmy garnishment. Is this allowed or is it protected information and can I sue him for that as well?

Thank you in advance for your informed guidance.

My response:

First, get signed and dated affidavits detailing the facts from as many people in the company as you can. Then, come back here.

Slander from Employer

"I AM ALWAYS LIABLE
Thanks for your speedy response. I have 4, maybe 5, people that have promised me to fill out the affidavit. I realize that a promise doesn't mean anything until I actually have the affidavit. I was just hoping to get the feeling of this forum before I had them all go through the process of filling out the affidavit and having it notarized and before I actually went to my attorney.

If you need more specific information before you can give your oppinion, please let me know. I am sure that they will state that "(My Employer) Stated that (my name) had made 900 sex calls on his company cell phone" and that "(My Employer) Stated that (my name) has garnishments on his wages for a loan he didn't pay back".

Thanks again
