What is the name of your state? Tennessee

My friend and I have been chosed an assistant coaches of her daughters cheerleading squad (9-10 yrs old). Since we have started, apprx 2wks ago, we have been having a horrible time with some of out parents and them abiding by some simple rules. These rules were just in regards to uniforms, shoes, etc...just simple things to make the girls look good and be a uniformed team. Some of these parents have chosen to go behind our backs and say things to the directors of our organization. They are accusing us of living a lifestyle that we do not, and have made comments as to how I have spoken to or handled my friends daughter, which I love as my own.

The directors have said they do not care about our personal lives and that this is not an issue, they just don't want any rules or discipline on the girls, just to let them do as they please. This is not a problem. What is concerning me is that mine and my friends names are being drug through the mud and being talked about in a way that is false and humiliating. Do we have a case? Is it possible to go against these few who are talking, possibly suing them for defamation/slander?

This has caused us to quit coaching, because it is so hurtful. Our daughter is no longer cheering for this organization, which is a first in 6yrs. This also hinders my coaching basketball as well for the same group. Can I get help?

Thanks,
Frustrated :(

Exactly what kind of "lifestyle" are you being accused of leading?

My response:

They're being accused of not being able to spell, or write sentences that make sense.

Typical Appalachian State high school dropouts. Duh, yup!
