My younger sister and/or one of her friends used my birthdate and social security # when they were stopped for a traffic violation in Wisconsin. The person gave one name, and when it didn't check out, used my name. I found this out after a judgement was handed down and liscense suspended. I cannot prove my sister did this and the arresting officer cannot identify her as the person in the vehicle.

I do not live in WI, but am a permanent resident of MT. I have proof that I wasn't in the state when this incident occurred, but the sheriff isn't willing to accept the evidence. I've spoken to the DA and they want me to reopen the case and then come back and testify. However, they have stated that they are not willing to accept the evidence either, except in court (really?). I cannot afford to do this and my parents are checking with an attorney to see if he can handle the problem. I am concerned that they will not let this go and if I go back, I will end up in jail.

The officer was negligent in not getting more identity, getting the names of others in the car, or recording a cell phone number that he called to verify the person's identity. If I file a complaint with the sheriff's dept., this may make things worse. This is the second incident with identity fraud and my sister. Our ss#'s are one digit off and I am getting mine changed!

You should try to get your SS# changed, and what ever you do... DO NOT tell your sister!!

If you can, have it flagged in the system and have that person arrested on the spot. What have you done to your sister? Have you gotten her to tsetify for you that she was the one who used your SS#? Let her bare the consequences of her actions in court. She needs to learn that stealing an identity will lead her to Jail or worse.

If you can, change your Driver's liscense number as well.
Good luck!!
