What is the name of your state? Washington

I have been with my fiance for 4 years and we have been going through problems lately and have been talking about splitting up. We purchased a home and two automobiles together three years ago and have 4 joint credit cards, but the rest of our debt is in my name. He has pulled the grunt of the finances for the past four years as he makes twice as much as me, so he basically supports me. I don't think Washington recognizes common law marriages and was wondering what my options might be. Should we just go get a marriage license and then go through a divorce proceeding to split up our assets and other things? I would appreciate anyone's advice on my options.

Why do wimmin think dis commun law applies to U???

Common law marriages were designed for one purpose... That is to legalize a couple for all intensive puproses are married.

They Must sign everything as MR & MRS !!!! Get Loans Credit cards, and fill out taxes as MR & MRS.

If not, you are NOT MARRIED! is that clear?

So the other princlple applies, Joint property is Joint property and in a spilt up it must be divided evenly. One of you has to buy the other one out...or sell everything and split the proceeds.

Spousal support...Unlikely...you can work and be responsible for your own bills again.
