What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I received a speeding ticket in Queens yesterday (first time I've gotten a traffic infraction in at least 20 years).
Came around a corner on Hillside Ave and an officer was standing in the middle of the road pointing a LIDAR gun at me. He motioned for me to pull over and when he approached my car, he informed me that he had clocked me at 42 in a 25MPH zone.
He then said, "I was going to show you on the display, but my battery died."

Two questions come to mind:
#1 Is he required to show me the reading?
#2 What is the accuracy of a LIDAR gun with a dying battery?

He's not required to show you the reading.
He may have said that simply to avoid having that conversation on the side of the road.

No, he started to show me then stopped. There were 3 officers out there with guns and I saw the others showing their displays to other motorists while I was waiting.

There is no requirement to show you anything at anytime, anywhere.

The accuracy of a lidar set is +/- 1 mph. It doesn't matter what the state of the battery is.

If the set was tested prior to use and then when it was used it locked in your vehicle speed that's all that is needed. If the battery suddenly dies at that point it doesn't matter.

And you weren't clocked. In NYC that means paced.

If you're interested, your chances of winning are close to zero.
