What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

I got a speeding ticket on Taconic pkwy for going 70 on 55 . I went to Pre-Trial conference with special prosecutor in Town of Milan court and didn't take the offer as the deal was not good. Prosecutor just reduced the speed to 66 which is a 4 point and i didnt take it as i already have 3 points and i would end up paying extra $300 for Driver responsibility .

Now i need to go to the Trail and i have no idea what's the procedure and what to do .
Can someone help me out here. Do i need to hire an attorney or if i choose not to hire an attorney- what should i do on the Trail date. My main target is to avoid extra $300 DR fee.

You chances are not good. You should have taken the deal.

Even if you hire an attorney - most attorneys have little trial experience in traffic cases because trials are so rare.

I would think you can still take advantage of the deal on the day of the trial but that's up to the prosecutor.

Oh, by the way, the original charge is 4 points so the reduction was not much of anything.

I do not answer (or even read) unsolicited private messages from posters.

If you have a question about your "trail" then ask it here.

Here's my uninformed opinion:

You won't get a better deal without an attorney from the prosecutor, and
An attorney will cost more than the $300 that you want to save.

Take the deal - you were speeding.

Trail Date procedure

Hi --

I replied twice to the post but still waiting for the moderator to approve it .

I have no idea about the procedure on the Trail date .
Can you let me know the procedure and the tips i need to follow on Trail date ? Will the police officer attend along with me ?How do i need to bargain with judge.
Any information will be helpful.

Thank you.

First of all it's a TRIAL.

You do not bargain with the judge - that is not what judges do.

You already conferenced with the prosecutor - he is the only one you get to talk to.

If the matter is on for TRIAL, then the trooper or officer should be there to testify against you.

Since you don't even seem to understand the basics here, maybe you should hire an attorney. An attorney may be able to speak to the prosecutor on the trial date and get you a better deal.

I am not familiar with the Town of Milan court so I have no idea if they would still accept a plea on the trial date. A local traffic attorney would be able to better advise you.
