My soon to be ex-husband and I both worked and earned well in our marriage, but my husband quit his job about 9 months ago (6 months before we separated), and he has been helping with the child care since January, although I'm working 3 days per week --they live and spend more time with me. (about 70% right now)
He is going back to work now and we will need a nanny to cover the three afternoons per week he was caring for the kids. I arranged to care for the kids during 50% of the week myself, so shouldn't he pay for the nanny completely? it will cost about $1500-2000. he's already been advertising and looking for one, because he knows he wants to work full time (which usually means about 25 hours per day for him)
What I would really like to do is quit my part-time, but well-paid job and care for the kids for a while, because they are suffering. Can I get him to pay child support and some maintenance as I am providing a valuable service by caring for the kids instead of the paid nanny?
