i live in washington state. my spouse and i seperated 1 1/2 yrs ago and have not filed for dissolution yet. i am finalizing paperwork in the next few days and he is reviewing. i have asked him for $400 a month in maintenance (for 3 years) while i go to college to earn my aa degree. i work 3/4 time and have primary custody of our 5 & 8 year old children for which he pays $800 mo child support. he made 58k last year to my 16k. i have 20 credits of college education but no degree. working 3/4 time plus primary care of the kids and going to school will take me three years to complete my degree. during our marriage i only worked sporadically to supplement our income. i earn the same as i did 10 years ago and his income has gone up almost 20% per year during the last 10 years.
???????? am i within my legal rights/boundaries in requesting this amount and for this time frame in maintenance? advice/suggestions/responses welcome
