My son has been married for about one year, they have a 3 year old daughter and she has a 5 year old out of wedlock. He is in the Navy. He is stationed aboard the USS Detroit ported in New Jersey. She moved out there approx. 2 months ago and they set up house. While he was out at sea she suddenly up and went back to Indiana with the kids and filed for divorce. She has moved back into her government subsidised apartment, got back on welfare and has gone back to her normal life of partying. My question is, she is requesting he pay her "maintinance" along with child-support. The child support is no a problem. But why the hell should he pay her allimony? She is able to work and has done so in the past. If anyone has any advise we will appriciate it greatly. We are currently looking for a lawyer. Things are difficult with him being away in the military.
