im in cali. was married in va.i got divorced one year after we were married we divorced in va my ex got a spousal agreement from me to pay her for 3 years.at the time i was in the military and had cheated on her so she threatened to ga to commanding officer i didnt want this to happen as i was planning on staying in the military that is why i agreed to this outragous settlement the first couple of years i paid her then i stopped as my situtation changed i have not heard a word from her since that almost 6 years ago now.last month i recieved a letter from a collection agency say they wanted this money plus the interest it was a large amount of money and no way could i pay it so the company threaten to have come back to va and hold me in contempt till i paid it all which is not going to happen anytime soon.i have remarried and have four kids now i want this to go away but am not sure how to hanldle it is there anyway that i can get this order changed or dropped altogther?she was working we divorced and since has remarreidand has a child.im can really afford to hire a attorney or fly out to va to go to court so if anyone has any advice please let me know.

If all you had remaining was 1 year of alimony then it was foolish to stop.
Contact the CA and offer 8 months as payment in full to be paid off in no more than 4 months. Make sure everything is in writing. Get this behind you.
