hi.
I live in VA. the judge ordered my husband who abandoned me and our 2and half year old daugther, plus commited adultery, for him to pay me spousal support starting march 15, he hasn't paid me. he paid child support though. we have to go back to court in may to have the judge grant sole perm.custody to me, i have temp. sole custody right now. how long before he is held in contempt of an order for spousal support. and if he doesn't pay before we go back to court, what could happen, jail etc. thank u

Courts are very strict about child support and other support to the family. One day late, bring an action. The Court may give him a certain amount of time to pay but if he doesn't, he is in contempt of the order.

Ever heard of dead beat dads? Yes, jail time is a possibility in many states.

Thought about garnishing his wages automatically?

Re:lawrat

thank u lawrat. I received a letter from child support enforcement about them taking out for our daughter, but i don't know if it will include my support. also, I received the temporary custody and support order from the judge, it has on the paper where my husband used to live, but when we went to court-i didn't know at the time- he moved again. I know where he lives now, but i was wondering, if i have a written statement from where he used to live and have my lawyer subpeona where he lives now for the exact day he moved, how would that effect him. on the custody order which was dated march 5 , it states that both of us have to notify each other and court 30 days in advance about where we will move to. do u think it would effect visitation, we have to go to mediator and because i don't want our almost 3 year old to stay with him and his girlfriend, i didn't know he moved and i confronted him and he wouldnt tell me, so he took our daughter someplace where i didn't know about, let alone the court. would letters about when he moved help my case. he all ready has to go to anger management for hitting me in front of her, which i have to tell the mediator, cause it happened in different city.thanks again
