what I need to know is this--I was divorced and receive child support and spousal support--the first year that I filed taxes I claimed the spousal support as income, the next year I had my taxes done, and mentioned that I received both child support and spousal support--I was told that I don't need to claim the spousal support as earned income--as the wording "spousal support" in my divorce, is different than "alimony"--What I need to know is this."Is my spousal support considered taxable income?" I have received so many opinions on this that quite frankly--I'm confused!!! anybody know the answer to this? I live in California-
