I am now bankrupt and have living with my parents for 1 1/2 years.
Have not owned a car or had a drivers license for 2 1/2 years.

I can now file SR-22 and obtain a Tennessee license as of June 1, 2001.

When trying to file for a non-owners SR-22, I found several companies that will issue one.
One company said they couldn't because my parents own two cars and suggest contacting their insurance company.

When parents contacted their insurance company, they were informed that their insurance will be increased $3,400.00 or their policy may be canceled if I don't obtain and insure my own car.

The insurance company is saying just because I live in the same house they will raise the rates (substantially) or cancel my parents policy whether or not I persue filing an SR-22 and getting a license. That the only alternative is to buy a car of my own and purchase sr-22 insurance on it!

Is this legitimate?
