I received a letter in the mail stating that I cannot renew my car registration until a court speeding ticket is paid that is dated 2006. This is the first letter I have received about this ticket possibly ever if not in several years as it is 11 years old. Can I fight this?

Statute of limitations apply from the time you commit the offense until prosecution commences (i.e., the ticket is issued).

Are you saying you never received this ticket, or you got the ticket ignored it for eleven years? It's not incumbent on the state to let you know you know you need to appear or pay. You agreed to that when you received the ticket.

Try to figure out which court is handling the matter and contact that court to have them help you with this.

Statute of limitations does not apply here, just to be clear. When you received the ticket the clock stopped ticking.
