My ex, spouse at the time, and I received a password to the kids dads Xbox account. Out of curiosity, we threw that password into his email and was able to login. This was interesting because we just snooped around as my ex was in the middle of a custody battle. Now 4 years later my ex is bringing it up. Kids dad said he wants nothing to do with it. What is the statute of limitations for this? Protection?

Did you just snoop or did you do something with the information you found?

Under federal computer crime laws, there is a two year statute of limitations for unauthorized access of a computer. State computer crime laws can vary but I doubt any have four year limitations periods.

In what state do you reside?
