My stepson is 19. When he finished high school I agreed to pay his first semester in college. He stayed in a dorm in an out of town college and got a 0.0 - never went to class. Lied about the "good" grades he was getting. Now he is living at my house with his mother. I have the only income and I do not like supporting a freeloading adult. What are any options I may have (short of divorce) to get him out of the house? As far as I am concerned, he needs to learn to support himself.

Give him an eviction notice that he has 30 days to get the heck out.

My response:

That is, of course, assuming you own the house.

Even if you did own the house, it's been going on for so long that "mommie" won't allow an eviction. And, if you insist on the matter, it's divorce time for you. Do you know why ? Because when push comes to shove, baby boy means more to mommie than you do. A "child" always means more to a mother than a marriage - - especially when the chips are down, and mommie has to make a choice (you or him). It will always be him. Mark my words.
