What is the name of your state? New Mexico
I am trying to adopt two girls from my wife's previous marriage in Mexico and I have a couple of questions. Here are the facts:
She was divorced back in 2001 and not only gain full custody but got the biofather rights removed. Her ex-husband is also Mexican. The two girls - Mexican also - have been with us since 2000 and we moved to the U.S. about three years ago, got married here and they are all now legal residents. I am a U.S. citizen.
The girls birth certificates have legal stamps and notes (in spanish) on the back stating the loss of rights ("patria potestad") by their biological father. We believe he is living in Florida - ilegally - but we are not sure were.
Questions then:
1) Do I need a Lawyer?. Would a legal translation of the docs be enough to prove the loss of rights and do everything on my own?
2) Have anyone heard about this $395.00 software from www.rapidlaw.com that guarantees the acceptance of all docs presented in court for stepparenting adoption?
