Understood, haiku and mistoffolees, we obviously want this to be airtight and I appreciate your cautiousness. My wife is adopting them because she has raised them with me all these years, but also to protect them should something happen to me. Mom is not stable enough to be raising any children unfortunately.

The TPR judgment's paperwork states: "It is ordered, adjudged, and decreed that all parental rights of (Mom) concerning the minor children (Daughter #1) and (Daughter #2) be and are herein after terminated."

You shouldn't have any problems, but you're going to need an attorney to get the adoption done properly. Ask the attorney how to protect yourself, but I think you're worrying about nothing.
