What is the name of your state? IN

I've worked for a company for 7 years now. The company has changed hands twice since the start of my employment with them. In 2001 the company experienced a time where they could not meet the financial obligations for payroll and offered employees a furlough. The company got the situation resolved and paid the employees what they were owed and began operations.

In June of this year the company experienced another financial deficiency and have been unable to pay their employees. The employees were offered the furlough option or could continue to work and all the time they spent working would be stated as a payroll obligation.

In Aug 04 the company changed the furlough to a lay off. I am over 6 weeks worked without a paycheck, the amount of the money I am owed is over $800 and I as I understand it the Indiana Dept of labor won't help me out since I am owed more than this amount, I've inquired about filing a lien against the company but it is only good for 6 months then I have to file a suit against them.

Do you have any advice for me? : :(

Have you ASKED the IN DOL if you can file a complaint? I've never seen anything on their website to say that they have an $800 limit.

If they do, however, the next step would be small claims court.
