I received two checks from someone and deposited into my account for the amount of $2995.00. After more than a week the bank returns the checks to me with stop payment marked on them. Is there a way for me to recover my money as I have not been able to get the person to respond to my calls? I live in California and the person who I received checks from is in Nevada.

My response:

Do you see that writing in RED up there? Without your State name, or the name of the State where the problem happened, it would be difficult to assist you. Laws are different everywhere.
