What is the name of your state? TX.
A friend whom I had known for many years was part owner in a restaurant with his brother and offered me a chance to buy into it at $50,000. I did. Shortly after I went into the restaurant he asked me if he could borrow some money personally until he sells one of his houses. I let him borrow $9,500 from my credit card as a cash advance which was deposited into his account the same day. I kept the credit card records in my desk at the restaurant and he later (a couple of months) went into the file and took two blank credit card checks and forged my name on them for 2,500.00 ea. Shortly afterwards the credit card company called and asked if I wrote the checks or authorized them and I said it was ok because I didn't want to hurt my partner. When I confronted him I asked him WHY he did that, he said he he thought I wouldn't mind. I flipped out and he said would pay it. We agreed to have the bill sent to his house since there was a -0- balance on the card. WHen it all got started and all the charges to it were HIS.
He went onto to take two more checks and sign my name, without authorization. To add insult to injury he then goes and charges two $5,000.00 charges on his credit card machine at anothjer restaurant he owns without my authorization and he has paid household personal bills on my account as well. Total in expenditures-over $27,000.00 !!!! That I was unaware of.!!!! No, he did NOT have my card but had my card account number. In the meantime, I sold out my "share" of the restaurant during a divorce case (I had to file for a divorce) and I get all this "news" about my credit card. I contacted the police and they refuse to do anything about it claiming there was a "implied consent". The credit card comapny is coming after me and I don't know what to do. I have never had a bad mark on my credit. These guys were friends and I trusted them. Sucker or victim? Please
help. (P.S.) My divorce is almost final and the restaurant has only met 50% of their "agreed terms of payback. Kim & Kodak, waiting for a reply!!
