What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA

So my old employer 2 years ago fired me claiming I wasn't following directions and being resistant. Nothing could be further from the truth as I had always turned things around as quickly as I could based on what needed to be prioritized. The place was full of egotistical scientists who treated analysts like crap. Now, I know it was at will, so they could let me go for anything. Now, I'm thinking, I want to go after them for wrongful termination. I know it's been a while, and even if I don't get anything, I kinda want to have the satisfaction of running up their legal expenses. Maybe the longer I draw it out, I can get them to settle just to make me go away. I never signed any agreements with them when I left as they gave me no severance. (Big mistake on their part?)

This is not a wrongful termination.

Please come back when you need help with having to pay their legal bills.

They will not have any big legal bills to pay as you were not wrongfully terminated and any case you filed would be dismissed. You are also past the statute of limitations to file for most if not all claims even if you did have one, which you don't.

There are only three states where severance is ever required by law; VA is not one of the three; even in the states where it is occasionally required, it would not be required in this instance. So no, not a mistake on their part at all.

FYI: I seem to be one of the few responders who still has their signature. Read it. You might learn something important.

If I went after them, and lost, why would I pay their bills? They never asked me to sign anything promising not to sue, and they're responsible for their own defense. Like I said, I don't really care if the case gets dismissed...

Because sometimes in some states, people who file frivolous lawsuits, knowing that they do not have a case but wanting to cause trouble for the defendants, are punished by being made to pay the legal bills that they created out of hand.

What do you believe was wrongful (illegal) about your termination since you acknowledge that your employment was at-will?
