What is the name of your state? MD

My husband was divorced about 3 years ago. Part of the divorce agreement was that his ex keep a van they bought together and make payments for the remainder of the loan. At some point, she was to have established financing and removed him from the loan. Six months after the divorce, she wanted a new vehicle and bought one, leaving the van abandoned and subsequently repossessed.

My husband has received a summons for a lawsuit initiated by the bank suing him for the entire amount due, plus plus. It is obvious that this was his ex's intention, and is in line with several other instances of vindictive stabs in the wallet.

What can we expect with this? Do we need a lawyer or can we just plead our own case in court? How is this possible???? Does a divorce decree, establishing "ownership" not hold legal weight in collections??? HELP HELP This woman is an endless drain!!!!!

He signed the finance papers. He is required to pay the loan. The divoce papers do not supercede any other contract that he signed/agreed to.
