What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

I am looking to open up a bar in NYC, but my question is can I be sue if the liquor license is under my name (individual) but the bar is under a corp company? I do not want to get sue if someone gets drunks or gets into an accident. How can I protect myself and my family.
