What is the name of your state? IN
My husband and I live in IN, his daughter (age 5 1/2) lives in MI. What is standard for visitation for summer? Currently there is nothing ordered by a court that determines visitation. He has joint legal custody with the mother having primary custody. The divorce decree states that visitation will be agreed upon by both parties. We are just curious what, typically, would a judge likely recommend for summer visitation. There is about 8 hours distance between both parents.

He needs to get his court order changed to reflect an actual visitation schedule. Standard can be anywhere from one week to all summer.

He has every other holiday, several long weekends, spring break, and two 3 weeks split in the summer. The mother does not want the 5 year old gone from home for more than 3 weeks at a time. My husband wants to try to go before a judge to get 6 straight weeks, but is unsure if a judge would grant him that much time consecutively. And, he fears that a judge may only grant two weeks, period. So, he thinks he may as well take the 2 3week sessions, but it is hard to get his daughter involved in any summer activities when the time is split. Any thoughts as to what a judge may think?
