Hi: I am currently going through a divorce process. Here are the facts
1. We were married in 1972 in Arizona, seperated in 1985 (15 years ago). 2. The children we had are either now grown or emancipated thru marriage. 3. She has been working steadily in her field (social work) for the past 15 years and I have been working in my field (information systems). 4. She resides in Arizona, where the divorce was filed, I reside in California. 5. I have been paying child support for the past 15 years without a court order, although I have no proof except for the past year and 1/2. 6. I make in excess of 100,000 a year, she makes around 30,000 a year, although I also live in the higest cost of living area in the country (SF bay area). 7. She is requesting $2,800 per month in spousal maintenance. 8. We both cohabitate with opposite sex parties and have so for most of the past 15 years. 9. She is claiming that the support that she provided me while I was in school from 1972 to about 1978 grants her the right to maintenance. 10. I supported the family from my employment from 1978 until the seperation. 11. My tuition was paid for by grants and scholarships. 12. She is lacking 1 semester towards a Bachleors degree but says she wants a Masters and needs the support to obtain this. 13. My 21 year old daughter, my grandson by her, my 18 year old daughter and her husband and my granddaughter all live with her, 14. Both daughters pay her rent.
My question is - will she get it. If she does get anything, which I dont believe she should be entilted to, can I. or should I appeal the order in california.
