Suspended license from speeding ticket

So I got pulled over for speeding (81 in a 55). The ticket was $206 i went to court for an extension to pay the fine and they start telling me i need to talk to a lawyer next time before i come to court and that my license is suspended and since im under 21 my parents should be with me(I'm 18). So I'm trying to ask the lady questions but she was just rude. How can my license be suspended? What is the point of me paying the fine if my license is already suspended.
