2001 - lost all in stock market thanks to WCOM (Bernie Ebbers) Could not pay $20,000 taxes. IRS took liens on 2 rental & our home.

1 rental house foreclosed and IRS released it.

Have a potential buyer for 2nd rental house but, of course, title not clear. We are Sr. Cits - disabled - Would not be able to pay back taxes.

Considering the IRS has a lien on our $80,000 residence - would they be inclined to released the other house? Could we make an offer to pay a part out of profit on sale and get both homes released? We need money to live on but know we need to do something with IRS. HELP!

Actually, the IRS has been somewhat reasonable in settling these kinds of cases.

Find an enrolled agent in the phone book to represent you before the IRS or try calling them yourself.
