I already posted here but failed to put the state I am in. I am in Florida and I have been married for 16 months, my husband married me for citizenship I found out 3 months ago. 2 months ago he walked out and got a apartment of his own saying he wanted his freedom and did not want me interfering in his life. He is now refusing to pay all bills and will not give me one dime for diapers or food for the baby. We have a 9 month old together.
He has been abusive to me verbaly and mentally and there was a restraing order.
He walked out of our lives and now he says he will not pay the bills since he does not live here. We own a mobil jointly and it is on a lot in which rent is due monthly.
I guess since we have been married a short time I cannot receive alimony, but can I get help with the bills? And how long do you think I can get this help? I start a job the end of September and it will be 2 months before I can even start a divorce, because I am going through a free legal service in FL because there is a child involved and I was told it would be better to have an attorney. I am in a real financial dilemma and dont know what to do. I am going to counseling for domestic violence and these people have been great in helping me with diapers and resources. I go to court Fri the 31 and one thing I think is for sure;I dont think a judge is going to be to happy when he hears that this person has only given me $25.00 for the month of Aug towards diapers and food. I also failed to mention that he makes 1300.00 every 2 weeks so there is no excuse. He sends money to his country every 2 weeks because he has a bank account there and 4 other children.
The bottom line here is I should have never married this man not knowing him that well.
Please give me any advice, I will be thankful for any!!
