What is the name of your state? Michigan

Hello.

What is the process for terminating the parental rights of an NCP? NCP meets all of the criteria in MI for this to occur. What form should be used to petition the courts? Is a lawyer necessary, or can a regular person do this on their own?

Thank you.

Just make sure no adoption is required to do a TPR too. Some states I think required it, some don't.

You don't HAVE to have an attorney but if the NCP objects to the TPR, it would probably be a good idea to have one to fight it. It also wouldn't hurt to get a consultation with one, just so you know what to do and the ins and outs to it.

You should be able to go online or to the courthouse and ask for the forms to fill out.
