South Carolina...My rights were terminated a couple of years ago, I have since then finished and been released from prison. I have stayed clean and have been an active part of the NA community in the county where I reside. I have not been in any more trouble. With all of that being said, I was recently told that in the state of South Carolina there is a law that allows Mother's/Father's whom have had their rights terminated to file within the Court system to have their rights reinstated so long as they did not sign the paper that is relinquishing their rights when their rights were being terminated. Only requirements are
1) Parents cant file to have their rights reinstated until 2 yrs after their rights were terminated.
2) Parents have to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are fit to parent the child.
3) The status OF The child has to be foster care, If the child has been adopted and the adoption has went through then this law doesn't apply.
My question is...Is this true for the state of South Carolina? If so, how would i go about finding out if my son is still in Foster Care or IF he has been adopted?
