The Impact of a DV Conviction on Employment and Housing

What is the name of your state? Texas
I had a DV (Misdemeanor Class A; max. fine: $4000 and max. confinement: 365 days) about 3 months ago. I spent 10 days in a county jail and served cost/fine/probation/jail times concurrently. My bail was set at $1,000 but I had no one to bail me out and I didn't remember phone numbers. Moreover, I obtained the police report and the court's final disposition on my case. In it, "the claimant stated that she was hurt by her husband", and the report denoted that the incidence is "Simple Assault/Domestic Disturbance". I didn't hit her (honestly though) but her words in her madness put me in jail. And it is the only time I had trouble with the law -because of a hot-tempered and "don't care attitude" wife. Now, I am worry about the impact of this DV record on future employment. I wonder what kind of difficulties I may have if I want to look for a teaching job (in college), an engineering job (with a private firm) or a multinational organization such as the World Bank? Can I get a security clearance in the future (and I am a naturalized U.S. citizen who spent most of his life in school!). Even though there are thousands fellow individuals in the U.S. are convicted every year for silly "crimes", do you think that a DV charge could be tolerated by landlords and firms? Thanks a lot.
