I worked at a company in a local mall for one week. I then decided that my co-worker was too psycho for me to be around on a daily basis. A few days ago a different store in the mall called me to pick up my check. My old Job didn't even call to notify me that it was ready! When I went to pick it up my psycho co-worker told me she would not release my check to me until I said sorry for calling her Psycho!!! This woman is not even the store manager! Is this legal? Can they really do this and if not, Who can I notify to report this problem with her????

You are legally entitled to your wages, and call the state labor department. But calling someone psycho is nasty and unwise and I'd suggest an apology makes sense. Grow up.

Whether it was "unwise" or "nasty" in the unsolicited opinion of the other attorney to call the co-worker "Psycho" is not important. The employer had the responsibility to call you when your check was ready. Also, they had no right to withhold the check until you apologized to the co-worker. You can and should speak with the state department of labor as they would be responsible for violations of this sort.
