What is the name of your state? MA

Hello,

For some reason, I'm having a difficult time fully understanding this Lockbox/Direct Mail thing. We will be filing the I-485/I-131 etc. within a month, and our state is one that is to mail the paperwork in directly. So, it is my understanding that they info gets keyed in, and reviewed for completness, and then is sent back to the local office (Boston) for our interview. Is that correct? Does anyone know how long it takes from beginning to end? From the day we mail in the paperwork, to the day my husband receives the green card, including the interview and everything?

Thanks!

Yup

Yes you are right, you send it to Chicago and it will go back to Boston. For family based I-485 application is seems it's taking just over 2 months to start processing those applications, that's very fast in comparison to some cities!
You should receive an interview date within that kind of time-frame, however the FBI seems to be lagging behind with name and background checks so it's hard to guess when he will have the green card. I am still waiting for mine and my interview was last August.
