What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? HI (mom) and FL (dad)

Sorry that you didn't like the advice we offered you.

The truth is, you need to stop letting your daughter control the parenting situation. Stop even giving her any hopes that she can throw a fit big and messy enough to warrant you not putting her on that plane and back home to dad. Be the parent, and follow the court order.

You do realize that part of the problem is that Dad is probably the disciplinarian and doesn't let her do the things she wants to do, the things YOU let her do when she visits you in Hawaii. The stepmother probably reinforces that, hence your daughter's reasons for not liking her.

As was stated in the thread you decided to close, you face the real possibility of screwing up any potential modification of custody if you fail to follow the current custody order. And just because the daughter WANTS or PREFERS to stay with you doesn't necessarily warrant a change of circumstances sufficient to modify the current custody orders.

You know, after reading that thread, I realized the hell that children of intact families face. There is just no escaping a parent you don't like! ;)

Sometimes it's not about escaping the parent (which you really can't do much about until you're old enough to leave home on your own anyway), but more about learning effective coping skills to deal with the situation so that it doesn't completely monopolize your world.

The thread itself appears to have gone missing.

I think Aunty Pro might have been too blunt.

You know, that whole "Who is the parent here?" thing. Oh, and the teeny weeny matter of the whole change of circumstance thingy, too.

I guess I don't get my donut tonight *sob*.

And I missed the whole thing. One minute I was asking who the custodial parent was, and the next minute the thread was locked and gone.

You don't want any donut she has to offer anyway. It might be laced with contempt.

But I'll save you a piece of birthday pie instead?
