18 yr. daughter with Car

18 yr old daughter with one year old car, two accidents, two tickets, title in her name only (bought by parents). Is their a legal way to keep the car from her? The car is being repaired, parent is paying the deductible. Upon completion of repairs car will no longer have insurance. The idea of putting a lien on the car for the deductible was considered but expect she will come up with the $500. Are parents still responsible until 21 yrs of age or is 18 the limit of liability etc. The state is california.

My response:

She's an "adult" - - no longer is she a parental liability. Since the vehicle is in her name, it belongs to her. If anyone tries to do anything to encumber, or cloud, or in any manner dilute her ownership or use of that vehicle, is in for big time trouble.

I'm telling you, unless you want a crapload of legal problems, leave her, and her car, alone.
