What is the name of your state? VA

My dad is a Product Group Manager of a department in a company in Virginia and has recently missed quite a few sick days (sick days that were available for him to use) due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Because of the days he had missed, his department got behind and has not shipped out the required number of parts. He has recently been prescribed a new medication that is working well, and has gone back to work. Because of the many days that he missed, though, the "big dogs" in the company have decided to make him work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week until his department has caught up with the required work. That makes 84 hours a week, and because he gets paid a salary, they are not paying him overtime for these extra hours. Is this allowed?

Yes. Your father's employer can require him to work as many hours as necessary in order to get the department caught up. While exempt status is not determined by job title, there is little doubt that a position such as Product Group Manager is exempt and therefore no overtime need be paid.
