Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a frustrating situation involving a towing company in tulsa and my vehicle. Recently, my car was towed without any prior notice, and now I'm facing significant fees to retrieve it. I feel blindsided by this, and I'm not sure what my rights are in this situation.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you handle it? I've heard conflicting advice about whether towing companies are required to provide notice before towing and what recourse I might have to dispute the charges. Any insights or recommendations on how to resolve this fairly would be greatly appreciated!

The best thing you can do is consult an attorney in your un-named state. ;)

The way to handle a towed vehicle is to pay to get the vehicle released from the impound lot, first, so the fee for storage doesn’t continue to increase and then determine if there is any way to recover these costs by showing it was an illegal tow.

Vehicles are frequently towed “without notice” if the vehicle is parked where it shouldn’t be parked (e.g., in front of a fire hydrant, in a bus stop, in someone else’s driveway).

Lucasjame, your profile page says you are located “in the USA.” We require the state name on this forum because, in the USA, laws vary by state, sometimes in significant ways.

I'm pretty sure this thread is spam seed... judging by the "advice" OP has been posting on other members threads. (most of which has been removed by Admin.)

Lucasjame was developing a bad habit of posting to very old threads so he was advised to knock it off. :)

The posts were reported and removed.

From where were you towed and what time of day?

Notice is often in the form of a sign saying don't park there and it doesn't have be in exactly the spot that you parked.

You've "heard."

Have you looked up the towing laws of your state?

Google towing laws with the name of your state.

it is in tulsa, oklahoma.

Where = particular location. Like parking lot, street, store, restaurant, driveway, etc.

When = time of day, expressed in the hours and minutes of a clock. Like 4PM, 1AM, Noon, Midnight, etc.

And did you go back and look for signs? Where were they in relation to where you parked?

It never ceases to amaze me when folks post on boards like this looking for information and then ignore questions by folks who respond.

Nifty, but that answers only one of the three questions I asked. Here are the three that remain unanswered:

1. Towed from where? E.g., was it towed from a business parking lot? The parking lot of the apartment complex where you live? Somewhere else?
2. Towed by whom? I assume this question needs no explanation.
3. Why was it towed?

Let's add a couple more questions (along with what "adjusterjack" asked):

4. When was it towed (i.e., on what day was it towed)?
5. You posted about this at nearly midnight CDT on Sunday. It's now Tuesday morning. What efforts have you made to retrieve your vehicle? Is it still sitting in an impound lot somewhere?

Many posters post a question and then never return. It’s always possible that these posters have found the answer they were seeking elsewhere or the problem has been resolved.
