Hello, I live in minnestota.

I'd like to create a series of posters inspired by a video game series owned by nintendo. I would be making a profit, but am not going to explicitly copy artwork from the game, just reference themes within the games. I might refer to characters and items within the game but won't copy them exactly. What is the law regarding this?

An example are these posters made based on 'Dexter' where the artist originally did not have permission to use the Dexter brand.

Thank you.

Chances are excellent that you'll find yourself in court. Major companies are protected by major law firms whose job is to keep people from impinging on their rights.
