We are in Florida & the family house for transfer is in Long Island NY
My husbands sister has a house in foreclosure in NY that she rents part of to their mother. Is it an option to have her legally transfer the house to us, bring the payments current in one payment & then get a mortgage for the balance of the house? There is an uncle who used to own the house still on the mortgage with my sister in law (he is in a nursing home & not very functional) & there are two leins on the house (one is from an unlienced contractor who claims he is owed 85,000 for an unpaid balance on some poor work & the other from the county or state for water/septic work that was done when the house first came to the family in 1990.)
Is there anyway to complete this transfer & save the house? Time is of importance here, but first we just need to know if it can happen. Is there problems with the different states issue?
