What is the name of your state? Alabama

I am currently undergoing the process of changing status, and as alot of you may know, trying to get anything from the BCIS takes a monumental amount of time. But I really need some general information on the Advance Parole documents, is it a piece of paper that lasts for a set period of time?, how long do they take to obtain? and what are the draw backs of applying for Advance parole before my change of status is complete??

Any information would be great. I have already paid a Lawyer a bundle and I dont want to pay him anymore unless I have too.

I am also applying advance perole together with my green card application but i applied in NY. My experience when i inquire by ph the ins said Ny office will take 5 months as a processing. So better to ask to your state ins inquiry ph because I know processing time different office by office.

One more, my lawer advised me not to leave US even holding advance perole and not emergency case. Ins making a waning in their web that advance perole is not granted to enter US and the person myst be investigated again at the airport to renter. better to leave after getting green card is the most recommended advise by my lawer. Hope this helps.
