i am canadian just recently married to U.S citizen. I have applied for adjustment of status and at the same time for authorization to work and for permission to travel. In a very short time I received my work card, but no sign of my travel papers. I was supposed to go to canada today. 100% of the time when I have driven across the border i have been asked no more than what my citizenship is. I am considering risking the trip. What is the worst thing that could happen and how would I reverse the consequences?

They would deny you access, cancel your I130 petition and force your USC spouse to re-apply and so you will be forced to remain in Canada for 12 months. Not worth the risk.
