What is the name of your state?NEBRASKA

Hello, my name is Matt and I am a writer. I am trying to write a sci-fi story where one of my character hits his superior officer. Where do I find the "rule" for not hitting an officer and then what can happen when you do something like that.

Plus, the "rule" for taking over command from a commanding officer who is unfit to command.

This all sounds crazy, but I would like to keep this as real life as possiable. Any help you can offer would be great.

Thanks
MG

Is this for Star Trek? I know Starfleet Command doesn't follow the UCMJ, but assaulting an officer during a time of war can result in immediate execution at the CO's authority, without courtmartial. In Star Trek the punishment may be getting beemed to a Romulan Planet, or getting to live on the Cube with the Borg.
