What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? va

i heard that the tuition and fees deduction may not be available for 2012 federal taxes. does anyone know if that passed? will we be able to take the tuition and fees deduction in our 2012 federal taxes?

The tuition and fees deduction has not yet been renewed for 2012...and may not be.

Yes, your husband can claim mileage on form 2106 which transfers to Schedule A. This of course assumes that you have enough itemized deductions to use Schedule A.

Both of these questions could and should have been asked on the same thread. Its just common courtesy to the responders.
