Hi...I was born in Lao and have been living in the US for the last 10 years. I'm about to get my US citizenship, but there is a discrepancy with my records.

The birthdate on my birth certificate is different than all other records. I've been basing all my records with a birthdate that is different than the one on the birth certificate. The approved citizenship paper is using the same birthdate as my birth certificate (the two dates are two months apart, May and July.) When I'm sworn in, I will have two birthdates

My questions are:
How would I go about changing the birthdate on all my records to match the US citizenship record?
Will this change have any adverse effect? (like on my SSN)

Thank you very much for your advice

I suggest you contact an Immigration Attorney for this.. it may have no effect, or it may cause your whole application to be thrown out and restarted. Don't want to alarm you, just letting you know what could happen. Consult with an attorney asap.
